Damian McGillicuddy shoots diversity for Models of Diversity
Damian McGillicuddy shoots diversity – Last month (July 2016) I had the pleasure to observe and learn from the renowned and multi-award winning photographer Damian McGillicuddy. Damian, who is the Principal Photographer and Educator for Olympus UK was shooting for Models of Diversity in London for TopShop and Burton Menswear. I can’t tell you how much I learnt over the two day shoot, but the experience was one which has inspired and given me a new approach to my photography. I use to photograph with Olympus cameras in the days I used film and I still have them, carefully wrapped in a nice soft dry box. The digital versions that Damian uses are very close as regards to looks as the original OM1 and the Penn with their small footprint but weighty precision feel. My role in the shoot was location scout, co-ordinator and general ‘go-fer’. I had with me a new GoPro, so I shot some behind the scenes footage of the big man at work, trying hard not to get in his way. What impressed me most about Damian’s work was the ability to control and add existing light so that the two worked in harmony so that the additional light, using Elinchrom Quadra kit, looked convincing

The videos were shot in HD and could have probably benefitted from a separate audio feed, but being a shooter and pupil would have been one process too far!

Vivien Sheriff At Goodwood Revival
This year I was at the Goodwood Revival for the full three days and the weather this time was glorious (last years was cold and windy)! I was covering the creative output of the wonderful Betty’s Salon under the creative leadership of Lisa George. One of her clients, Vivien Sheriff the talented and creative Milliner were in for a vintage make-over with three models to be photographed by the Pussy Galor (Bond) helicopter. I tagged along taking images of the lovely ladies getting ready and then on to the helicopter and some vintage cars for good measure. I’ve posted some of the images below with links to a couple of published articles. Thank you Vivien Sheriff and Anna Hickling for the opportunity.

Images shot two weeks ago with Models of Diversity at The Rag Factory off Brick Lane in London. All the models bared nearly all to illustrate the idea of body dysmorphia by writing on their bodies about their body parts they disliked and the parts they loved.

Leonie Sherif – Tropics Magazine
Shot last year in a studio in London with Models of Diversity. Leonie Sherif wears a stunning design by Albert Martincich. Hair was by Fiona Chaffey HairStylist. It was one of those studio sessions where the team jelled quickly and we were creating images one after the other. We had around 8 models, all hoping to be even better than the last, kind and helpful, the magic just happened. We make it look easy, but the secret as anyone knows, is picking the right team and finding the right models for the job. We had Angel Sinclair, so we were at an advantage from the start!
I’ll post more photographs of this successful shoot once I have transferred all the fashion images from old web site to this one. If you would like me to create something like this for you, then please get in contact.
